iQuit in Practice

Improving quit rates among smokers in primary care: Pragmatic trial of the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of a tailored web- and text message-based intervention for smoking cessation.

iQuit in Practice is designed to be used alongside primary care smoking cessation support. It comprises a tailored advice leaflet and 90 day program of tailored text messages, commencing the day before the user’s quit-date. In an earlier pilot trial of  600 patients, a small but significant effect of the intervention was found at 6 month abstinence rates in the intervention group compared to those receiving usual care only.
iQuit in Practice is a larger trial to assess the effectiveness and cost effectiveness of the iQuit intervention.
