Great Yarmouth and Waveney CCG Research Summit

Great Yarmouth and Waveney CCG, James Paget University Hospital and Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust are working together to help promote, develop and grow research across the local health economy as part of the commitment to building an integrated health care system. A Research Summit was held in September 2015 to bring together healthcare professionals, researchers and the wider research community.

Research in healthcare is fundamental to evaluating and developing new services, treatments and support mechanisms for all populations. But WHAT should be researched, to best support the needs of a local area, is often unknown. We have a vision of creating a multi-agency Research Community for the Great Yarmouth and Waveney area to develop innovative research.

Key members of the healthcare community were invited to put their research ideas and thoughts onto the local agenda. Clinicians, patient representatives, researchers and managers were invited to complete a short questionnaire on research in their organisations and take part in a Great Yarmouth & Waveney Research Summit.

Participation at this event gave a unique opportunity for individuals to get to know others who lead on research across the Great Yarmouth and Waveney Health system and the academic organisations that work alongside us.
This report gives feedback on the information that was derived from the survey and the group discussions from the research summit. The outcomes from the survey and event will be used to forge new collaborations, and create a research plan for Great Yarmouth and Waveney organisations.

A report of the day is available to view and download at the bottom of this page.
