Evidence-informed commissioning

Evidence-informed commissioning

Using robust evidence from research, service evaluations and other sources, when making decisions about commissioning healthcare services, is vital.

We believe in getting the right information to the right people at the right time.

Evidence summaries

On behalf of the NHS Norfolk and Waveney CCG we commission evidence summaries from academic colleagues, usually funded by Research Capability Funding (RCF).

Recent topics include:

  • managing potentially inappropriate medication;

  • person centred social prescribing in older people;

  • supporting people with multimorbidity;

  • community based support for smoking relapse prevention.

Evidence Works

The Evidence Works toolkit is a 5 step evidence cycle to support commissioners to find and use evidence.

The toolkit explains how to:

  • identify

  • access

  • appraise

  • apply

  • share and manage evidence.

Training

We run training sessions based on the Evidence Works toolkit for Norfolk and Waveney NHS staff.
